This is where zip files become really useful as they can be €zipped up€ into a single zip archive. Thereafter you can email them. These files would be compressed which would reduce storage as well as transfer across internet easily. Basically zipping a file means putting it into archive format like €ZIP'. This is by compressing the file makes it smaller. Several files can be compressed into a ZIP archive. This makes it easier to store as well as transfer them as files are smaller. They can be moved by moving that one compressed file.
But you can do more than combine as well as compress with zip archives.
Unzip and zip files
Windows is capable of unzipping and zipping files without taking the help of any additional software. You need not download any programs in order to create any basic archives or even unzip them.
Just right click in the blank area on your desktop or in the explorer, go to new, and choose compressed Folder.
You can rename zip folder as well as move it around to different locations on your system. Drag the files into squeeze folder. The files are basically copied into the zip folder and nor deleted or moved from the actual location. You can transfer or back up the zipped contents.
You can also shrink files by highlighting them, right licking them or even hitting send to the compressed zipped folder. Just right click it and pres extract all. This would open a new window and you can select where you want the files to be extracted. It would extract the contents to same directory in which the compresseded files are kept by default. Hit extract as well as the folder which would be created that would have all zipped files in it.
